Today I am reviewing Overview of the PMBOK® Guide -Paving the Way for PMP® Certification written by Dr. Deasún Ó Conchúir and published by Springer. The book under review is a introduction to the Project Managament subject. It also serves as a very good guide for students who will do the PMP exam. The book starts with a very well written chapter about Project Management and it explains what is a project, what project management is about and gives an overview of what is the PMBOK.
I recommend this chapter for everyone interested in Project Management. The other good thing about the book under review is that it is much more simple and easy to understand than the original PMBOK. The book presents a lot of questions and examples that will help the student prepare themselves for the PMP or CAPM exam. And also the author is an expert on the exam and present valorous hints for the exam time.
To conclude I want to say that this book is a really good company for anyone interested in Project Managment and mainly if you will take the PMP exam. However the reader shall have some careful in the last chapters of the book which presents more advanced material. I give a 4/5 on this book and recommend it for all of my readers. Because I am preparing myself to take the exam in the future I thought this is a great title to review and if any of you read it and used it in your studies to prepare yourself to the PMP exam please let me know and share your thoughts
- Provides easy access to the PMBOK® Guide for the PMP (Project Management Professional)certification
- Ideal guide for non-native speakers
- Aims to reduce preparation time through clear, transparent explanations
- Caters to a rapidly growing number of PMP applicants
This book is a valuable resource as it provides an introduction to project management’s generally recognized good practices as described in A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide)– Fourth Edition, published by Project Management Institute (PMI), the world’s leading association for the project management profession.
Style and language make Overview of the PMBOK® Guide especially useful for individuals who speak English as a foreign language and are preparing for PMI’s certifications, particularly the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) and the Project Management Professional (PMP®). The CAPM demonstrates an understanding of the principles and terminology of the PMBOK® Guide. The PMP demonstrates experience, education and competency to successfully lead and direct projects. The PMBOK® Guide is a foundational resource for all PMI certifications.
